Silk-lined Masks

These silk-lined masks have 2-layers of cotton, as usual, on the back and front, but have 2 layers of silk chiffon (very thin and light weight) permanently sewn to the interior of the filter pocket.

Silk has shown to offer an electrostatic barrier that repels viruses. Thus, a cotton-silk chiffon mask offers both mechanical and electrostatic-based filtration.

Read more about cotton-silk in this study published April 24, 2020 called “Aerosol Filtration Efficiency of Common Fabrics Used in Respiratory Cloth Masks”. It was conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL and Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL.
